The Polaris Music Prize 2013 Short List will be revealed on July 16 in Toronto. Kastle - Circles

SF producer Kastle imparts "Circles": a drowsy and somnambulent dip into late-night melody and weighted bass. The exclusive download is made available from Kastle's eponymous LP, recently out on Symbols Recordings, via Scion Sessions & Exclaim!...

Kaytranada "Long Fortune" mix

The young Montreal producer Kaytranada lays out this exclusive "Long Fortune" mix for Scion Sessions, pairing up originals and thematic selections with aplomb. The triple threat outro of Brandy, Monica, and Aaliyah calls back to mind Kay's bootleg remixes of Janet Jackson, Missy Elliot, and TLC, to name just a few...

Cadence Weapon "Loft Party"

This is the after-hours anthem! Cadence Weapon's ode to side-door venues come and gone, probably penned at dawn, in some Montreal loft, for every late-night early-morning jam that you might've got away with. Edmonton's one-time all-time Poet Laureate weaves a torrent of witching hour cautionary tales of forgotten party memories and 5-0 infiltration, over a sparse beat and islands of infectious chorus...

Previously only available late-night as a live fan favourite, "Loft Party" appears on the B-side to Cadence Weapon's Scion Sessions 7", fronted with the Hope In Dirt City hit "Conditioning"...

Teen Daze "Divided Loyalties"

On November 6, Teen Daze releases his second full length record, the gorgeous The Inner Mansions (Lefse Records). Expounding on the sonic, spatial, and spiritual insights of his full debut, All Of Us, TogetherThe Inner Mansions explores deeper and lighter atmospheres by a more literary approach. With this atypically acoustic rendition of "Divided Loyatlies" at Vancouver's Red Cat Records, Teen Daze aimed to unearth a piece of music that, when brought down from the stratospheric heights of his blissful production, will stand the test of the song. The album version, debuted at ISO50, reveals the immeasurable space that this song has traveled from its conception to its release...

Shout Out Out Out Out & Teen Daze Split Remix 12"

Shout Out Out Out Out "Now That I've Given Up Hope I Feel Much Better" /
Teen Daze "Bluest Water" - Split 12" Remix-Swap

Shout Out Out Out Out & Teen Daze pair up on this very special 12" vinyl release for Scion Sessions. The collaborative EP features an original from both bands - Teen Daze's brand new languid burner "Bluest Water" and Shout Out Out Out Out's robotik "Now That I've Given Up Hope, I Feel Much Better" from 'Spanish Moss, Total Loss' – which gets the reinterpretation treatment from the opposing artist...

Ryan Hemsworth SLOWED SUMMER

Ryan Hemsworth slows up with this dog-days mix, a few ahead of his contribution to a very SLOWED SUMMER, August 4 at the Wrongbar monthly. This mix cruises through some unheard original material of his own and the homies, including trips through TNGHT, Kaytradamus, and the remix of EXETER's "88MPH" released through this channel not long ago...

Bruce Trail - The Pleasure of Finding Things Out (Foundry)

Bruce Trail's "The Pleasure of Finding Things Out" is an inquisitive exploration of pace and texture. Scott Cairns' (Nacho Lovers) nascent identity as Bruce Trail traipses the sonic palette along the escarpment between terrestrial bass and celestial heights, natural notions of future sounds. This exclusive mix, unearthed in advance of Bruce Trail's appearance at the pathblazing Foundry series...

DAPS VS. HAND DRAWN DRACULA: Split 12"

DAPS Records & Hand Drawn Dracula comprise two sides of a Toronto coin, currency widely accepted for the impassioned Do It Ourselves all-styles-all-fidelities music signified by both these labels and a city's burgeoning community (more so than scene, more so than sound). This collaborative project brings together the end-of-spectrum but like-minded creativity of the DAPS & HDD camps: four bands from each set represented on balanced sides of 12" vinyl!
